Recycled Rubber Mats

Recycled rubber is dense, durable and grippy, which makes it excellent for heavy-duty and utility settings: gyms and weight areas, warehouse and workshop floors, entrances, and general back-of-house standing. As an anti-fatigue surface it’s firmer than foam, so it suits robust standing and rolling loads more than plush desk comfort.

For lighter office comfort or a standing desk, a softer foam or polyurethane mat is usually a better fit, see standing desk mats. Match the material to the job: recycled rubber earns its place where durability and grip matter most.

The environmental case for recycled rubber rests on how much recycled material it actually contains and where that material comes from. Some mats are close to fully recycled; others blend recycled and virgin rubber. Ask the supplier for the specific recycled-content percentage and the source (for example, post-consumer recycled tire rubber) so the claim is concrete. We don’t publish invented figures, and you shouldn’t accept them either.

Recycled rubber can have a characteristic odor when new, which usually fades but is worth considering for small, enclosed or air-sensitive rooms. For those spaces, ask about off-gassing and whether the product has any low-emission testing, or consider a PVC-free foam alternative. In open, well-ventilated or back-of-house areas this is rarely an issue.
